It feels like I have been neglecting this site, but I guess I’ve been pretty busy over the last few months. So I have finally made a bit of time to write up this electronic cigarette review that I have been planning for what seems like forever.
Green Smoke are the biggest electronic cigarette manufacturer around and for a while I have been suggesting, on this site and in day to day life, that people try them out. This hasn’t been a blind suggestion, I have used the Green Smoke E cigarette for some time now so I do know that as well as being the biggest brand they are also the best. I realise since I started using these E cigarettes a few months ago some things will have changed, I do try to keep up with all the news and new products and try them all out, so everything should be up to date. So without further stalling, on to the review.
Starter Kits
Basic Starter Kit
Before you even start using your Green Smoke E Cigarette you need to work out what it is that you are going to buy. When you go to the Green Smoke (GS) website you will have to choose an E cigarette starter kit from three possible option. First on the list is the “Basic Starter Kit”, I still don’t know why it is called this because the Social Smoker Kit is the most basic kit they offer. Anyway, with the Basic Starter Kit you get two batteries, one long and one short, a Home Charger Kit, which includes a USB battery charger and a wall charger, you also get 5 nicotine cartridges, this selection is called the “Intro Pack”, included in this is one Red Label 12mg, one Menthol Ice 12mg, one Vanilla Dreams 6mg, and two Absolute Tobacco 18mg, so that you are able to try out a range of flavours and nicotine strengths. You will also get a User Manual. These kits are perfect if you are a pack a day smoker or more, the two batteries means that you can use one, charge the other and so on, meaning uninterrupted smoking time. The Basic Starter Kit will cost you $139.
Then there is the Social Smoker Kit which basically contains the same things as above but with one less battery in the kit. As the name suggests this kit is ideal for people who only smoke socially, whether that is when you are with friends or while at restaurants, bars or clubs. Because there is a battery less this kit costs a bit less at $109.
Love Birds Kit
Finally we have got the Love Birds Kit, which again is like the Basic Starter Kit, but it has double of everything, one for you and one for your other half. So is has two short batteries, two long batteries, two Home Charger Kits, two manuals and ten cartridges, though the cartridges are not limited to the Intro Pack listed above, you do have a selection of different flavors or packs to choose from. The Love Birds Kit will set you back $270, which is quite a lot of money but it does offer a bit of a saving over buying two starter kits individually, perfect if you and your parter are smokers.
Once you have made your choice, you have bought your starter kit and it has been delivered to your door, the first thing you will see is that the packaging is really nice. It is a really high quality box, I certainly wasn’t expecting it when I bought mine, even though the kits are not cheap I still expected fairly basic packaging. Once you open up your box you will find your manual which is written in very clear English and really easy to understand, there is no jargon in there but it is still very conclusive, perfect for first time users. You will also find your Green Smoke members card, this is a really nice touch. Once you are up and running with your E cigarette and using it in public there may be times when business owners and such like ask you to stop “smoking” in their establishment, in these cases all you need to do is take out your membership card and show it to them. On the back it explains exactly what it is you are using, how it not giving off any chemicals so is therefore not harming anyone, or breaking any laws and it also has contact numbers that they can use to contact Green Smoke if they need to find out more about the legal matters. A really nice touch, well done Green Smoke.
Batteries
When you take your batteries out of the box you will see that the quality continues with them. They look and feel just like regular tobacco cigarettes to touch, the same length and width, so you will feel right at home as soon as you start using them. The only downside being that they do weigh a bit more than normal, but I think that expecting a battery to weight the same as dried tobacco is expecting a little bit much. With regard to how long the batteries will last you, generally the short battery will last about 4 to 6 hours and the longer battery lasting 6 to 8 hours. Once you have been using the battery for a good number of hours, the LED at the tip of the battery will start to flash, letting you know that it is almost out of power. When you need to charge up the battery it couldn’t be simpler with the Home Charger Kit, choose either the wall charger or the USB charger, screw the battery into it and plug it in, after 2 or 3 hours your battery will be ready to use again.
There have been complaints about some of the GS batteries over the months, personally I’ve not had any issues with mine and anyone who has had a problem has sent the faulty units back and have been sent an updated one in return without any hassle. As far as a I know all of the new batteries are the new design, so shouldn’t be plagued with any problems.
There is also a new device out that is perfect for people who spend a lot of their time at their computer, it is called the USB Electric Cigarette, it powers your E cigarette directly from a USB port on your computer. There is a 57 inch cord that runs from your computer to your E cigarette. It sounds great, I haven’t tried it yet, but rest assured I will be with my next order.
Nicotine Cartridges
Over the months that I have been using the Green Smoke E cigarette I have noticed that all of the cartridges are very consistent. All of them are filled up properly all the time. With other brands there have been times when either the cartridge is half filled or there is no flavor in them, with GS I have had no such problems.
Not only are they faultless, they produce some of the best vapor of any E cigarette around, you really feel as if you are puffing on a tobacco cigarette sometimes, there is just so much vapor given off. Over the months and years Green Smoke have gotten a name for being “Vapor Monsters” this name is pretty spot on, I doubt you will find another E cigarette that produces the same level or quality of vapor.
They also have really good flavor to them, the names really are spot on and relevant. Up until only a week or so ago GS did a range of more interesting flavors on top of the usual tobacco and menthol ones, strawberry and apple for example, but apparently due to poor sales they have now stopped these more interesting flavors, which is a really shame as I quite liked them. But fear not they still do Menthol Ice and Vanilla Dreams. I always preferred menthol tobacco cigarettes, so the menthol cartridges are great for me, but the Vanilla cartridges are just excellent! So full of delicious flavor, I really hope that they don’t get discontinued like the other flavors have.
Green Smoke also offer a number of different nicotine strengths to suit pretty much everyone’s preferences. For the people that like them really strong they have 18mg cartridges and they work all the way down though 12mg, 6mg, 4mg to Zero for the people that just like the act of smoking.
Refill Cost
As with any electronic cigarette the price of the refills is really what sells these devices to tobacco smokers. With GS a single refill cartridge can cost as little as $2.60, this is going to last about the same time as a pack of regular cigarettes, so compare this to the prices that you pay right now for tobacco, it is a huge saving.
Construction
Another big selling point of Green Smoke E cigarettes is that they are made in only two pieces, these two pieces are the cartridge and the battery. With a lot of the other brands they opt for a three piece design, the cartridge, the battery and the atomizer. With the three piece design is can be a real struggle to get “smoking”, you have to unwrap the cartridge from the well sealed packaging, remove the atomizer, give it a clean and connect it all to the battery. When doing this it can get really messy with liquid from the cartridge going everywhere, on your hands, in your mouth and on anything you touch. If it goes in your mouth it is pretty horrible. Also if you are in your car or somewhere else away from your home it is even harder to get your E cigarette ready to use.
With the two piece design it is so simple, the atomizer is sealed inside the cartridge, so all you need to do to get going is take the two rubber covers off of either side of the cartridge and screw it on to the battery, it really is that simple. And because the atomizer is sealed inside the cartridge every time you change the cartridge you get a brand new atomizer too, so you get the highest quality vapor and flavor all of the time. With the three piece design if you were out of your home and the atomizer fails you will be without your E cigarette until you get home and get a new atomizer fitted. That’s not something I want to happen.
Using the Green Smoke
When it actually comes to using the Green Smoke electronic cigarette it really does just feel like you are smoking a tobacco cigarette, you get the same feel in your mouth, on your throat, you get the same flavor, you get that hit from the nicotine as well and then you have the sensation of exhaling all of the vapor. Apart from smelling of nothing, there is no smoke smell, it really just feels like a tobacco cigarette.
Even after all these months of use I really don’t know of very many downsides to the Green Smoke. The only thing I don’t really like about it is that it is heavier than a tobacco cigarette, so you cant really dangle it from your mouth like you can with a normal cigarette, you can do it, but it takes a bit more effort, but as I mentioned above you can’t really expect a battery to weight the same as dried tobacco. Then there is the price, yes Green Smoke is quite expensive when you compare it to some of the other brands, but these cheaper brands tend to be made using the three piece design I mentioned above, and these cost less to make. I do feel that Green Smoke E cigarettes are worth this extra money, the quality in them is second to none, the customer service is super helpful and always on hand if you have any issues with your E cigarette, they send out replacements without any trouble at all and they almost always have everything in stock. Add to that the free shipping on almost all orders it doesn’t really get much better. I really recommend that you give Green Smoke a try before all the other brands.
